The average technical fluid change intervals are as follows: a mineral engine oil should be changed every 5,000 km, a semisynthetic one—every 10,000 km, and synthetic oil—every 15,000 km. The service centre specialists advise carrying out maintenance at least once a year.
However, every experienced motorist knows that in reality, an engine oil change interval depends on many factors:

• Type of the fuel used. The quality and composition of fuel have a significant impact on the engine operation and how long engine oil will last.
• Engine capacity. In low-capacity devices, engine oil has to be changed more often.
• Operating conditions. Poor roads, increased car working loads, regular speeding, harsh weather conditions, etc., create the need for changing engine oil sooner.
• Car frequency of use. Rare and small loads reduce the engine oil deterioration rate.

So, the need for changing this technical fluid cannot be accurately determined without a visual assessment of its condition. You can perform such a check on your own—for this, pull out a dipstick and drip some engine oil on a clean sheet of paper. The presence of dirt in the fluid, its increased viscosity and dark shade indicate an urgent need for maintenance.
